Turning up when you said you would is a low bar, and it's the one the trade fails at most. Scheduled window, phone answered, crew on site.
Written and itemized before work starts, and the same number at the end. No day-of additions, no discovering a haul-away line item afterward.
Except for the missing tree. Full debris haul-away, raked and blown, mats down to protect the turf and pavers — all inside the quoted price.
Including when the honest answer was that the tree could be saved with pruning instead of the removal someone called us out to quote.
Tyler didn’t come up in the tree business. He came up in the Air Force, where the work is unforgiving about details and nobody gets to improvise on the fly. You brief the plan. Everyone knows their role and the sequence. You execute. Then you police the area before you leave.
That habit doesn’t switch off when the uniform comes off. What stood out after arriving in Northwest Florida and starting to cut trees was how little of it carried over into the trade. Crews showing up without a plan. Quotes given over the phone by people who never saw the tree. Prices that moved once the saws were running. Yards left with ruts in the grass and sawdust in the flowerbeds. Companies working without workers’ comp, quietly making their risk the homeowner’s problem.

Tree work involves heavy equipment, weather delays and prices that genuinely surprise people who’ve never had a large removal quoted. Sometimes we get it wrong. When we do, the fix is a phone call to the owner — not a scrubbed review page.
Reviews tell you about experience. They don’t tell you about coverage. Before hiring any tree company — us included — ask for a certificate of general liability insurance and a certificate of workers’ compensation.
